Cady Rutter (Class of 2013) will share how she transformed an interdepartmental approach from her time at Concordia to an interdisciplinary career in visual arts, publishing, and travel. Cady is the Programs Coordinator at The Rourke Art Gallery + Museum and Senior Editor at Theran Press.

Lessons from the Field

Field placement and seminar are considered the capstone experience for a social work major.  The process of securing a placement and navigating the professional waters of an agency are both challenging and rewarding.  This transformative semester offers great opportunity for growth professionally and personally.  Senior Social Work students currently engaged in their field placement will present on lessons they learned through the process of placement exploration, the incorporation of the core curriculum in their agency setting, their personal and professional growth, as well as the transition from student to professional roles.  Undergraduate social work majors are encouraged to attend to gain understanding of this capstone experience.

How to Make Parchment from Whitetail Deer: Materials and Process

Before the printing press, bookmaking was an expensive, laborious artform that relied on a diverse collection of materials, knowledge, and skill. In this talk, Dr. Korte will demonstrate the medieval process of turning animal hides into parchment. Lunch will be provided.
