Scripps Research Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF)

Scripps Research is a world-renown research institute located in La Jolla, California. They offer summer research and academic-year research experiences for undergraduates. Concordia students applying for the summer program in La Jolla must first submit an internal application.

The University of Florida and Scripps Research in Jupiter, Florida are now integrated and also offer summer research experiences for undergraduates.

The Scripps Research summer programs (SURF and REU) are open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors. U.S. citizenship is not required. Students earn $6250 for this 10-week program and receive free housing. Scripps Research offers exceptional training in a variety of topics in chemistry, biology, neuroscience, immunology, microbiology, computational sciences, and informatics. Students who conduct summer research at Scripps are more likely to be accepted into Scripps Research graduate school. Seeking a PEAK? Students completing a summer internship at Scripps Research may earn a PEAK through the URSCA PEAK program.
