Credits

Students may earn 1-4 credits in a single semester for directed research (mentored URSCA) experiences. The course number 487 is used across campus for these experiences and is assigned to the appropriate department or program prefix (e.g. ART 487, BIOL 487). Advisors and students should consult the course catalog to determine whether 487 credits count toward particular majors and minors.

Earning 487 credits for an URSCA experience involves these steps:

Student and mentor complete URSCA 487 Credit Registration Form.

Registrar’s Office creates course registration number (CRN) if one does not already exist.

Student conducts research or creative scholarship with mentor(s).

Student and mentor complete URSCA 487 Assessment Form at the end of the semester.

Student disseminates outcomes at the URSCA Symposium.

Mentor submits a grade for the 487 experience.
